One of the most common questions new VLTStake users ask is: how are reward rates determined? Unlike fixed-rate savings products, staking reward rates are variable — they adjust based on real-time platform conditions. This article explains the mechanics.

Staking rewards are variable and not guaranteed. Past rates do not predict future rates. This article explains mechanics for educational purposes, not as financial advice.

What Are Staking Rewards?

Staking rewards on VLTStake are incentive distributions from a platform reward pool to users who stake assets in eligible pools. The pool exists to incentivize participation and long-term holding — not to generate a guaranteed investment return.

The distinction matters: staking rewards are a platform incentive, similar to how a loyalty program rewards its most active members. They are not passive income, dividends, or investment returns. Regulatory bodies in many jurisdictions draw important distinctions between these concepts.

Factors That Affect Reward Rates

  • Total platform staking volume: As more users stake, the reward pool is distributed across a larger base
  • Pool allocation: Governed by the platform's reward pool management
  • Position size: Larger positions receive proportionally larger daily rewards
  • Lock multiplier: Longer lock periods yield a higher APY multiplier
  • Streak multiplier: Daily claim streaks build a compounding bonus over time
  • Loyalty multiplier: Positions held longer accrue an additional loyalty bonus

How Daily Rewards Are Calculated

At a high level, your daily reward follows this logic:

  • A base daily rate is determined from the pool's current APY
  • Your position's principal value in USD is used as the base
  • Lock, streak, and loyalty multipliers are applied on top of the base rate
  • The resulting reward is credited to your account once per 24-hour period

What Could Cause Rates to Decrease?

  • More users joining staking pools (dilution effect on pool distribution)
  • Platform decisions to adjust pool allocation parameters
  • Changes in supported asset market conditions
  • Updates to reward program terms or pool structure

Understanding the Risk

The primary risk of staking is that rates are not guaranteed. You should never stake assets you cannot afford to hold through periods of low or zero rewards, or if platform conditions change.

VLTStake is a custodial platform — your deposited assets are held by the platform and managed on your behalf. While this simplifies the user experience, it means your assets are subject to platform operational risk, which is different from self-custody.
